21st running of the Willowdale Steeplechase

• Pony Races at 12:15 p.m.
• First Race at 1:30 p.m.
• Reserved Tailgate parking available. Spaces range from $175 to $450 per space and include four tickets.

The theme for this year's tailgate competition is "Hit the Road Jack", a picnic to represent your favorite road-trip destination. The Whip Tavern is once again graciously sponsoring the tailgate competition and offering an unheard of RESERVED table for 6 at the time and date of the winner's choosing.

11:00 a.m.

Each year the crowd pleasing, spunky Jack Russell Terriers entertain the guests at The Willowdale Steeplechase.  The dogs jump over obstacles and race to the finish line.  One never knows what to expect when the terriers are on the course, some hustle after the "tail" while others flip and twist off of the course to the delight of the audience.  The races begin at 11:00 a.m. and heats are run until approximately 11:45 a.m.  The winning dogs (and owners) receive trophies in the "Winner's Circle".

Our younger riders compete for trophies, ribbons and bragging rights during the Pony and Junior Horse Races. Three divisions of races are run: Small Pony (children under 15 years of age on ponies smaller than 13 hands), Large Pony (children under 16 years of age on ponies smaller than 14.2 hands) and Junior Horse (riders under the age of 18). Interested riders should fill out the Pony and Junior Race Entry Form and mail it along with a $25 registration fee to The Willowdale Steeplechase at 101 E. Street Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
