What happens if it rains? The races run rain or shine. Often the most fun steeplechase events involve a little weather. Watch the forecast and dress accordingly.

What can I bring? Tailgate picnics are encouraged at The Willowdale Steeplechase. You can bring food, beverages, tables/chairs and decorations for your tailgate. Grills are prohibited on the steeplechase grounds. Kegs are also prohibited.

Can we set up a tent or canopy? No, in order to preserve the viewing for all of our guests, tents and canopies are not allowing in the parking areas. If you are interested in having a tent for your group, please contact the steeplechase office at 610-444-1582 to learn more about our rail-side and hilltop tents.

Can I bring my dog? Dogs are welcome at The Willowdale Steeplechase but they must be kept on a leash at all times. Please be respectful of other guests and clean up after your pet. Water is available by the horsemen’s barn throughout the day.

What should I wear to the races? This is a family event. Attire on the racecourse is somewhat casual though many ladies wear sundresses and hats while the well dressed men will be in khakis and polo shirts. Due to the uneven terrain, flat soled shoes are recommended. Make sure you bring sunscreen!

I had a reserved parking space last year, can I buy the same space this year? Yes, we give prior year purchasers the right to purchase their space until April 10, 2015. After that date, all spaces are available for purchase.

Who benefits from the steeplechase? The Willowdale Steeplechase raises funds to support the following charities: The Stroud Water Research Center, The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and Quest Therapeutic Riding Services, Inc.

Where can I purchase tickets? General admission tickets can be purchase through the web site or at our ticket outlets. Please see the ticket outlet tab for a full listing. Tickets may also be purchase in person or over the phone at the Steeplechase office, 610-444-1582. Reserved parking spaces must be purchased through the Steeplechase office.

What is there to do between races? The Willowdale Steeplechase offers many activities throughout the day. The Kid’s Alley Activity tent has plenty of things for children to do. The Beneficiaries host different crafts and informative displays that will capture a child’s interest. Children can make stick ponies and “race” them for ribbons, learn about “gross” stuff veterinarians use to keep animals healthy and how clean water affects all of our lives. There is also an antique and unique car display as well as the beautiful horse and carriage parade and display. The merchandise tent has unique shopping opportunities for everyone.
